M2 Potential Questions

Feedback:
1. How old did you plan for the teenager (main character) to be?
Around 17, I will add more detail on my character to make it more clear what type of person he is and some of his backstory.

2. What role do the police play? Do we get to know them?
Most are side characters, against the main character as they don't think he can help them, one of them takes him in as a sort of son figure and the audience will learn more about that police officer. A few of the police officers will be sort of the antagonists because they are secretly planning to arrest the main character as they suspect his plan. The main one we learn about has his own backstory to do with his upbringing which explains why he wants to help the main character.

3. What is the role of the caravan park in the show?
The main character lives there. He lives alone so he cannot afford to live anywhere else, the reason he has enough money to not have to live on the streets is because he makes his money through committing crimes.

4. What is the precise mental health struggle and how does this play a role in the show?
I haven't fully figured this out yet but it will play a role in his backstory and explain more of the way his life is in some way. My initial thought was possibly insomnia as this could play into the plot of him planning the perfect crime as it could be his way of distracting his mind at night.

5. Will this mental health struggle help those watching who may be going through something similar?
It will be presented in a way that normalises it to the audience so when someone who goes through a similar issue watches it they’ll feel recognised and it may help them feel less alone.

6. Why has he chosen to help the police? What is his motivation?
He's only a criminal as a last resort so when the police offer to help him it keeps him out of prison and it allows him to use his skills for a better use, initially he partially wants to do it to help him carry out his perfect crime but as the show goes on he becomes more of a good person and is in it to help. He also wants to spend as much time away from his mum as possible and he grows a connection with the main police officer which leads him to feel more inclined to spend time at the police station. He is very intelligent and doesn’t feel school is challenging enough so by helping the police he is challenging himself in a way he didn’t have before.

Additional potential questions:
How many locations will there be?
Are there any other significant characters?
What genre of music will it involve?
What are some of the character's names?
Why does it suit the BBC?

Planned improvements:
I am going to improve my pitch by adding more detail to both my episode 1 description and the general overview of the series because when I initially wrote it I was less clear on my idea but now it has developed more so there are some additional key aspects I need to add. I need to further explore the mental health side of my show as it plays a key role but so far I haven’t explained it very much within my proposal. I will also create character profiles for the key characters such as the main character, his mum and the main police officer to create a clearer identity for the characters.
